Chargers Post First Win Against the Wolves:

After a disappointing first game the Chargers put together a powerful offense and an oppressive defense that muzzled the Wolves.  Every player had an exceptional game making it difficult to find standouts.  The offensive line performed remarkably.  There was no penetration and no tackles for a loss.  The line performed so well that fumbles were converted for big gains. 

We had no turnovers.  Gabe Santiago's 2 interceptions and fumble recovery created opportunities that were exploited.  The Wolves' game plan was endangered from the beginning.  The Charger's ends and corner backs shut down the sweeps.  The Wolves resorted to the passing game.  They threw 4 times with 2 near interceptions one of which was nearly returned for  a touchdown.  The defensive line harassed the running game.  Nobody kept accurate statistics but it seems that most of the Wolves' positive yardage was through penalties.  Travis and Jackson had spectacular tackles.   Almost every defensive player made or contributed to a tackle.  It was truly a team effort.

On the offensive side we succeeded in spite of misfires.  Some of our most successful plays began with a fumble.  Players made impressive runs.  Cole ran like there was a $100 bill in the end zone.  Major yardage was gained between the tackles and around the ends.  A first down QB sneak gained 7 yards.  The other backs also ran hard.  Jackson had a run that was a solid 8 yard gain, thanks to a down field block from Scott W. on the Wolves' Goliath enabled Jackson to gain 16. 

Special teams were an improvement over the last game.  Kickoff returns were nonexistent.  Due to a mix up at the coin toss we did not have an opportunity to return a kickoff.  In the end it didn't matter.  Scott F. delivered a deep punt that put the Wolves in the hole. 

Except for the 1st half of the first game the Chargers have not given up any points.  We will capitalize upon that success when face the Raiders next week.
